Hello fellow co-conspirators!
When people think of games, they generally tend to think about programming or game design or art; but in reality there are many more super important roles. Part of the reason why I “went Indie” was to get a better grasp of these other roles and what they do (most of them anyway; I still can’t art).

This week was thus mostly dedicated to markteing, and specifically making a marketing plan. Most people think a good game sells itself, but with so many games coming out, how will people even know your game is out to judge if its good? A successful indie in this day and age needs marketing and just as importantly, they need a plan. This includes figuring out goals, messaging, channels and a how bunch of other stuff I’m just learning about once it’s done I plan to make a post sharing my process so everyone will know why I took the crazy desicions I did.
But what about the game? Well, dev does not stop. This week I implemented a new more friendly menu for controlling units and also updated the unit cards. There’s still much more to be done, but it already looks less cluttered than before (which means more units on screen, yaay!).
I also implemented the logic for missions. Which means that units can now connect, convert and seduce other units. Missions not only will help players recruit existing units into the Illuminati, but they also help units buff/debuff each other and take on tougher targets. The whole buff/debuff system (which I call Traits) is also implemented, though I still want to make sure its nice and robust.

Next week, more marketing research awaits! My goal is for next weekend to have a twitter, facebook and proper website accounts set up, with a mailing list and discord as stretch goals.
Happy Conspiring!
