Hello fellow co-conspirators!
This week was a bit of rough for me as I got a really bad cold. Lasted for about 5 days and my brain was so fuzzy I couldn’t make heads or tails of the code. However, the globe keeps on spinning and we Puppetmaster needs to launch so cold and all we need to keep moving forward.

So this week I kept focusing on the marketing side of things, particularly how do you actually find people that are interested in your game? With about 200 new steam games coming each week, that “build it and they will come” mentality no longer applies. You need to make sure you have a good pitch and a good way to spread the word. I speant the week doing my research and making a marketing plan and a sales funnel [which is basically a map of how you’re moving people from just being aware of your game to becoming your fans].

The beauty of all this is that it really highlights what I need and what I don’t right now. I was thinking of setting up a discord this week, but as we can see….that’s a later stage thing; better focus on getting that website up to par.
Here’s some articles/ videos I recommend if you want to get a primer on this stuff:
- Tim Ruswick’s Indie Marketing For Beginners
- Every post by Chris Zukowski on Gamasutra , but particularly his emails and funnels articles
- ‘How to find your first 1000 players?’ by Tyler York
Now I’m feeling much better, and this week I want to finish up feedback for completing missions [ I’m thinking of a vs screen of sorts] and really getting that website and mailing list ready (so I can finally talk to y’all 😀 )
Happy conspiring!
