W18 – Playtesting

Hello fellow co-conspirators! 

This was another week of playtesting and feedback. Players are really responding well to the new mission system (yay!) but are definitely still confused by the economy.  They do pick it up after a few turns, but at the beginning they are utterly confused. I’ve been testing the new visual feedback for missions, and so far it’s been… lukewarm. Some players like it other feel it’s confusing. There needs to be iteration on it. I also now have a pretty big list of UI/UX changes that will just improve the overall quality of life of the game. Some of them are easier to implement then others, but observing how the game is being played, they will definitely make the game better. 

The little time in-between tests was spent fixing bugs and polishing visuals.  I’ve been very careful this project with programmer debt (I.e. hacking code together, that you will have to come back and fix at some point) so there isn’t a ludicrously large bug list to take care of (so far). This gives me time to tweak VFX and menus to make them easier to understand. Here’s hoping that the bugs stay away from this game.
